SUMMARY

From ancient times the people have been envisioning the conquest of the heavens. with the firsts, in Greek mythology, Icarus and Daedalus, who proved that human been, can fly like a bird.

The possibility of a controlled and safe flight was a laborious and constantly evolving endeavor, which requires exceeding human limits and a heavy blood tax. With the advent of the airplane, the Greek aeronautical history of the last hundred years and not only has gone through a very interesting and largely unknown course but has highlighted several Greeks, pioneering heroes-explorers, who wrote fascinating pages of aeronautical and aerospace history. that must preserve in our national memory.

At the same time, space is becoming an extremely attractive field of human evolution and technological advances are bringing it closer to the human measure.

Statistically, the museums of technology, aeronautics, and space, attract the big interest and the largest attendance of the public while their operation provides them with multiple advantages (local-national) to those involved. In Greece, there has not yet been an organized and dynamic process for the creation of a corresponding plan, only whispers. In the context of the preservation of the Collective Heritage of Greece, it is proposed the establishment of the "National Museum of Aeronautics and Space of Greece" which will make possible uninterrupted access, in real-time from anywhere in the world, to all people of different identity, social and educational level. the Greek aeronautical history. Suggested actions are:

- Collection of archival material which it is scatter nationwide in the proposed space-headquarters of the museum for documentation, study, classification, maintenance, storage, and creation of aeronautical and aerospace - physical and digitized- collections.

- Creation of a website of the National Museum of Aeronautics and Space of Greece, designed according to the standards of cultural websites with modern digital applications (eMuseumPlus), accessible through technology.

- Creation of online museum-pedagogical activities and programs for school groups, families, and individuals.

Finally, the effort is proposed to establish the opening ceremony of the World Air Games (WAG) in combination with real and virtual data, from the touch altar of the Ikaria flame in Ikaria, based on Olympic standards.

Now is the time for all stakeholders to work together so that the digitization of the existing, scattered, and unused material of Greek aeronautical history can proceed dynamically and I hope that it will soon be hosted at the "National Museum of Aeronautics and Space of Greece."
